How it all works

Apart from internet access, all people need to use the platform is either the Chrome or Safari web browser on their computer or mobile device and a webcam and headset if they are using a computer.

Attend Anywhere is completely secure and confidential, calls cannot be accessed by anyone else and clinicians will be in a private room. The video call is free (except your Internet usage charge).

For help and guidance in using Attend Anywhere please refer to the information and videos below:

What equipment do I need to join a call

For an online video appointment, you will need:

  • Broadband Internet access - we suggest that you use Wi-Fi rather than 4G to ensure that the signal is reliable
  • The Google chrome web browser
  • A desktop computer, laptop, smartphone or tablet with a microphone and camera
  • A quiet location away from noise and distractions so that you can hear clearly and hold your consultation in private
  • If you have opted to have a video consultation, we will schedule your appointment as normal and send you the details of the appointment date and time

What do I need to do before joining a call

If you are using the platform for the first time, we recommend watching the two videos above to understand how your online video appointment will work.

We strongly recommend that you plan your call so that you are in a quiet room, so that you can hear everything that is said and to ensure that your privacy is protected.

A few minutes before your appointment time, please click on the relevant waiting area from those listed. You will then be taken through a series of steps to ensure your equipment is set up and working correctly. You can use the Test button to do this. Once this has been done, you will be asked to enter your name, date of birth and telephone number, and read and accept the terms and conditions. We will not store the details you submit beyond the length of the call.

Once these steps have been completed, click the Start Call button and you will enter the waiting room until your consultation begins. You will see yourself on the screen and hear some music. At this point the clinician will know you have arrived and are waiting to be seen. The waiting room is private and other patients cannot see each other. If you have any issues, please click here for our troubleshooting guide.

What happens during and after a call

When your clinician is ready to start the consultation, they will join you on the screen and the appointment will take place exactly as if you were in a clinic room. If you are using a computer you will be able to share documents and resources, just as if you were in the same room.

At the end of the consultation you will be presented with a short survey about your experience of using Attend Anywhere and we would be grateful if you could fill it in to help us improve the service.
