Georgia's story

I am proud to work with an amazing team. They are all so knowledgeable, have tonnes of experience and are full of compassion.

We work together to ensure person-centred care for each service user - to have a positive impact on their recovery journey and the lives of their families.

There is no greater gift you can give to the people you work with than your time and heart. It is an honour to know that you've helped made someone else’s day a bit better than it would have been without you.

Why did you decide to work in mental health care?

Having grown up with five younger siblings, I believe I have a caring and compassionate nature. In school I always felt drawn to help others - I enjoyed listening and creating solutions together to improve a situation.

I trained as a nurse in Suffolk, with my placements being completed at NSFT. I love my role as a mental health nurse and can't imagine doing anything else.

Every day is different and can come with new challenges. Time for reflection and management supervision is very important.

How have you developed in your role at NSFT?

I had started on my ward at NSFT as a student nurse in training. I then qualified and began as a staff nurse there, a month before Covid hit. Working throughout a pandemic brought challenges, added responsibility and experiences which I have truly valued. I am proud to say I am now a Charge Nurse on my ward.

I am proud to work with an amazing team. They are all so knowledgeable, have tonnes of experience and are full of compassion.
