Event to support carers a big success
An event at the Forum in Norwich to showcase help and information available to carers has been hailed a success by organisers and those who came along.
The annual Care for Carers and Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust (NSFT) information day was held on Monday (10 June) to launch Carers Week 2024.
The event included nearly 50 stalls, including stands from NSFT covering participation, membership, perinatal, secure and forensic services and Recovery College.
The number of visitors during the day was reportedly up on last year at between 1,500 and 2,000 people, and one stand holder was pleased to be able to help 30 people on the day.
NSFT Non-executive director Tricia Fuller visited the event and said: “I was delighted and privileged to be able to visit the carer event at the Forum in Norwich this week. To see the range of services available for our carers from perinatal all the way to dementia support was inspiring. It was also great to meet the dedicated staff, governors and carers leads.”
Belinda Danso-Langley, NSFT Director of Nursing (Norfolk & Waveney Services), who also went along to the event, said: “It was great to meet all the NSFT teams at the Carers Information Day and see the work they are doing to improve the lives of carers and the family members they look after.

“As a Trust we value the feedback from our carers and families and are working hard with our partners to make sure they have safer, kinder and better experiences of our services.”
“Being a carer can really take its toll on people and having all these organisations under one is a great way to get the message across that there is help out there, just don’t be afraid to ask.”
The yearly Carers UK campaign highlights the challenges faced by carers and recognises their contribution within local communities and across the UK.
NSFT People Participation Co-ordinator Kelly Moulds, who works with the perinatal service, recently shared her experience with the NSFT board of juggling her role as a staff member and a carer for her dad, who lives with schizophrenia.
